Greetings,
Hey, there's a space available in this September's aurora trip. See below.
And I just got back from the Palouse. Another great trip. Already looking forward to the trip this October.
And I've started another home project. Or maybe I'm just finishing it. Hard to tell.
Read on.

Palouse Workshop Report

Have I ever mentioned how much I like the Palouse? Every year I head out there with my list of locations to visit and every year I find something new.
And every year is different. Some years we have great clouds, other years we have no clouds. Some years we find canola, other years we don’t. Some years it rains, and other years it’s nearly 90 degrees the entire time.
This year, the weather forecast called for clear skies and high temperatures for the entire time. Thankfully, the forecast is nearly always wrong and while it was hot, we actually got some pretty good, sometimes crazy, clouds. An when we started the workshop this year, the canola hadn’t yet bloomed. By the end of the week we photographed a couple of fields of it. You just never know what’s going to be around until you get there.
Next year I’ll be doing this trip with Cliff Zenor, one of the best workshop leaders I’ve ever worked with. It should be a lot of fun! And you can sign up now if you wish. We don't have exact dates yet, but it will be sometime in mid to late June 2020.

Death Valley
Speaking of the Palouse, Death Valley is much like the Palouse with its graphic landscapes, great light and variety of subjects. And it has dark skies that are great for night photography. In fact, we planned the trip to coincide with the new moon so we'll have some pretty dark skies.
Next February's workshop with me and Cliff Zenor is starting to fill already. I'm really looking forward to returning to Death Valley, hope you can join us.

Home Projects
While our kitchen remodel was completed sometime last August, I’m finally getting around to creating a small home office area off of the dining room. This area was, once upon a time, a closet for the bedroom we removed to make room for the kitchen expansion. I recently added a shiplap wall treatment and next step is finding, or building, a desk to fit in the space. And I'll add some built-in shelves too!
No pictures yet. I'm going to keep you in suspense and just wait until it's done.

Just Because
Since I’m still missing Bailey something fierce, I’ve been trying to focus more on all the fun and adventures we had together. This picture was from one of our walkies where we would wander into this big stand of alder trees. Unfortunately, the resource company that owns all that land recently logged a whole bunch of it. So there’s very little back there now that looks even remotely familiar.
Still, I have those great memories. And a few pictures.
