Heading off to Yellowknife

It’s time again for me to head to the “way up there” to photograph auroras: Yellowknife, in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
I’m already planning next year’s trip (late Sept. 2019) so if you’d like to come along, let me know and I’ll put you on the early notification list. And if you want to reserve a spot, feel free to send a deposit. Email me for details.

Autumn trips open for sign up

Silver Falls State Park (near Salem, OR) in the fall is spectacular. Big waterfalls and fall color. How can you beat it? There are still a few spaces open for my Silver Falls tour, October 18-21. Check it out.
And if you want to explore the Palouse in the fall, consider joining me for an exploratory tour October 25-28. More info here.

Iceland

My Iceland photo tour is just around the corner and there is still space remaining, theoretically. Because it’s coming up so soon, if anyone else wants to sign up I’ll have to confirm hotel space with our tour company.
If you’re male and want to share a room, I may be able to pair you up with another male right away. So if you want to go, let me know. Like right now!

Olympic National Park workshop posted

I never tire of going to Olympic National Park. It’s practically my back yard and I love my back yard, especially when Bailey the dog is running around chasing her toys or a squirrel or hiding in one of her “forts”…but I digress…
Olympic National Park in May is lush with new growth and the streams have plenty of water and moss is really, really green. Plus the sunsets on the coast in May can be pretty good because the weather can still be unsettled; we get much more rain in May than in July, for instance.
This trip is based out of Forks and we’ll be visiting several waterfalls, several beaches, rain forests, Lake Crescent, and more. Check it out and sign up here.

Patagonia

And just a reminder that I’ve got a Patagonia trip next April. This will be autumn in the southern hemisphere so think of blue water and amazing mountains garnished with fall color. Should be spectacular. More on my Patagonia page.

I still have a few things to do like adding the under-cabinet lighting, but those will need to wait until I have a bit more time. Maybe between Yellowknife and Iceland.
Bailey has adjusted well and has let us know that she knows where her snacks are. She also has a new friend.

Here are a couple of pictures of the project. The first is the new pantry (I did all the work other than the framing, drywall, and drywall prep).
The other is another part of the kitchen. I did little here other than installing the cabinet door glass and cabinet door and drawer pulls, the upper trim, painting ceiling and walls, and adjusting the stove height.

I may put together a blog post about the project. Or not.
It may contain insightful (or not) observations about the similarities of doing detailed finishing work on the kitchen and being picky about the details included in my own photographs.
Or it just may be me bragging about our new kitchen and all the wonderful trim work I did.
Or not.
Have a great September. And Go Hawks!
(Seattle Seahawks, just in case you don't know)
