Greetings,

This is yet another abbreviated (and late) newsletter. The kitchen remodel is getting closer and closer to being done but it’s still taken over my life. At least now I’m down to the picky little details. And with my obsession for being picky with the little details in my pictures, you might be able to imagine how all the little trim details consume me. But my list is getting shorter!
So on with the newsletter.

Palouse 2019 workshop posted

Every year the Palouse both the same and different. The same in that you just can’t get enough of those rolling hills and graphic landscapes. Different in that you always find something new to photograph, even if you’ve been visiting the area for the last 20 years or so like I have.
My 2019 Palouse workshop is June 12-16, 2019. This trip is limited to seven participants and this trip typically sells out. If I get enough interest I’ll look into adding another trip.
Last June we tried our hands at some night photography and I’ve got my eye on a place or two we could try photographing the landscape lit up by the full moon.

Silver Falls State Park this coming October

I’ve scheduled a long weekend photo tour to Oregon’s Silver Falls State Park this October 18-21. This a great place to photograph fall color and waterfalls and it was so good last year that I just had to try again. The falls are easily accessible via short hikes. There is elevation gain/loss at nearly all the falls, but the hikes are short and anyone in halfway decent shape should have no problems.
You could even combine this photo tour with a trip on your own to visit the Willamette Valley Wineries and/or the Oregon coast. And I’d be happy to recommend some locations.

Palouse autumn exploratory

Want to explore the Palouse in the fall? I’ve planned an exploratory tour for this October 25– 28.

What’s an exploratory tour? Well, we’ll be exploring places I’m familiar with to see what they look like in the fall.
Where can we find fall color? How are the views from Steptoe Butte different from the spring and summer? The color palette will be different than the summer, which will give us new photographs of familiar places and a whole new way of interpreting the Palouse.

Things will be pretty informal in that we’ll have destinations, but we may also make the occasional wild left turn just to see what’s there.
But the most exciting thing may be that sunrise and sunset come at un-stupid hours. So no getting up at 3:30 in the morning!!!!
This is a tour and not a workshop. But that doesn’t mean I’m not available to help, answer questions, and review images.

Iceland

And because there is still time to get in on this year’s Iceland tour, I'm just rerunning this from last month's newsletter. This trip features fall color, waterfalls, black sand beaches, glacial lagoons, and, if the weather cooperates: auroras.
And our guides know Iceland, they live there. They know the locations, the light, and the best times. This should be an incredible trip. Won’t you join us Sept. 25 – Oct. 5 in Iceland?

Kitchen Update

The update changes every day. That's because I get something done every day. Yay for me!
Here's Bailey the morning after the floor seal went on. That day the finish was applied and we had our new floor. I've since installed the remaining appliances, installed a barn door to our new pantry, and added trim in various places. Still a little more to do. Speaking of which, I better get back to work!
