Greetings!
SEAHAWKS!!!!
Sigh. Well, it was a pretty great season, all in all. Some ups and downs, but boy, were the Hawks fun to watch. Can't wait to watch them in Superbowl 50.
I'll just hand off to the rest of the newsletter now...

Oregon Coast workshop now open for sign up
Last month I asked if there was any interest in an Oregon Coast Lightroom-centric workshop. And since there was, Victoria Dye and I have gone ahead and scheduled it. The dates are July 22-26.
Victoria is an excellent field instructor with all sorts of great ideas, helpful hints, and "unique" word combinations. She blogs too.
Not only will we be photographing one of the most picturesque parts of the country, we'll be spending a good deal of time in the classroom on Lightroom. This won't be quite as intense as our dedicated Lightroom workshops (see Palouse and Olympic) but you will be learning the fundamentals of the most useful and important modules in Lightroom.
And if you're just not that into Lightroom, we'll still be out photographing as much as we'd normally do on a workshop.
And you get all this with invigorating ocean air and fresh seafood!
More on the Oregon Coast workshop here.

New book by John Shaw
I began to get serious about nature photography about 23 years ago. Back then I was absorbing just about anything I could get my hands on. And the first things I got my hands on were John Shaw's books. I can remember the excitement I felt every time a new book of his came out. It's safe to say that John Shaw's books shaped my own photography.
It's been a long time since John Shaw came out with a traditional book; I think his last one was an updated version of his very first book. So when a new John Shaw book comes out, that's reason for some excitement.
John Shaw's Guide to Digital Nature Photography is now available for pre-order. It's going to be available March 17 in traditional paperback, Kindle, and iBook versions. If you're relatively new to nature photography, you should get this book. Look at me. I've not even read it yet and I'm recommending it. That's just how good John's books are.

TTG CE4 Client Response Gallery
The Turning Gate has released the final puzzle piece of their CE4 suite of Lightroom Web Module plug-ins. And it's a doozy. (not sure if that's how you spell doozy. Doozie?)
Anyway, it's here! TTG CE4 Client Response Gallery.
If you're a photographer working with clients who need to make selections and give you feedback, this gallery facilitates that. No longer will your clients need to write down file names or send you an email saying they want to use that image with the thing in the foreground and the whats-it on the side. They can actually place a check mark on the image and even open a response pane for each image where they can add comments and choose any options you've configured.
And when combining the new CE4 CRG version with TTG Publisher, client feedback is now saved and clients can come back, log in, and continue making choices, no more needing to complete selections in one setting.
Read more about the new TTG Client Response Gallery on my blog…

Columbia River Gorge in the spring

May is wonderful time to photograph the numerous waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. It's also a great time to find fields of wildflowers in nearby preserves. There is still space available in my May 6-10 workshop based out of Cascade Locks. This workshop is limited to only seven people. This way we won't get in each other's way and you'll get all the help you need.
For more information, and to see some more pictures of the area, visit my Waterfalls Workshop page.

Still time to sign up for amazement!
And by amazement I mean The Northern Lights. At this writing, there are only three spaces remaining in the Aurora tour I'm co-leading with Victoria Dye.
Seeing and photographing this spectacle is something you'll never forget. And the images you'll come away with will make you go "Wow!" every time you look at them.
But it's more than that. There's just something about being out so late, when it's quiet and cool, next to still water, and gazing up at all those stars, the Milky Way, and those amazing auroras.
Don't miss out.

Springing!
My apologies if this is a tease to all of you who are buried in snow and freezing your you-knows off. But it's spring around here. Fruit trees are blossoming and I've already had to mow the lawn.
Here's a selfie that Bailey and I took on our walk in the woods a few days ago.
Hope spring will be with all of you soon too!
