Greetings All

I've got some new news, and some old news. Mostly new.

New newsletter

You may notice a difference this month. I've switched my email marketing provider to MailChimp. So hopefully all of you have made the migration. Not that you had anything to do with it. I just hope I did it all correctly. If you happened to have unsubscribed lately (I know! Why would that happen?) and now find yourself being annoyed again, simply hit the little link at the bottom.

New workshops site!

Over the last few weeks I've been working on a new WordPress based website specifically for my workshops. I designed the WordPress theme using The Turning Gate's Theme for WordPress Lightroom plug-in. Take a look!
This new site will make it easier for me to add or edit workshop pages while on the road as well as add private areas for workshop attendees. And, being WordPress, I can add all sorts of functionality if I choose, as well as adding things like photo lessons and tips.

If you're a Lightroom user and already have or want a WordPress based website, take a look at The Turning Gate's Theme for Wordpress. The design part is very flexible and you can create as many themes with it as you like. Right now I'm using it to power two sites: my workshops site mentioned here, and a site dedicated to tips on using the Turning Gate Lightroom Web Module plugins, ttg-tips.com.

New camera!

After over six years of using my D300 (which still works great, by the way) I've finally upgraded.
I was recently cajoled, threatened, and bullied into buying the new Nikon D810. It's a pretty nice camera with some features I've already grown to appreciate, like the virtual horizon in the viewfinder and the highlight priority metering option. It's got a few layout, control, and ergonomic differences from my D300 but those are easy to get used to.
Check out my blog for more.

New Trips!

peggy's cove lighthouseAnd to go along with my new workshops site mentioned above, I've got some new trips planned for next year.
First off (so far) is Nova Scotia in June with Kevin K. Pepper. This trip will feature lighthouses, coastal scenic images, villages, and more. Even a night session.
Another exciting trip is the Yukon in August for the fall color with Kevin A. Pepper. This itinerary just makes my mouth water. Fall color, great scenery, critters, and possibly some auroras too.
I've yet to set prices for these two trips or make them available for sign up as I'm still waiting on confirmation of dates. But if you're interested, send me an email and I'll inform you when registration is open.

I'll be adding a few more workshops in the next few weeks, like the usual Olympic National Park trip and probably the Columbia Gorge Waterfalls trip. Stay tuned.

Night photography

Since I've got a trip coming up that features a lot of night photography, I've been doing some research and reading some interesting books. And I've found a few great apps to help plan any night photography outings you may have in mind. I've got a short blog post listing these here.

An old story

I'm still in the midst of remodeling the bathroom. I'm about half-way done tiling the shower, and then it's on to the vanity back-splash, painting, and trim.
I've had tiler's elbow (Like tennis elbow. Only from tiling. And infinitely more painful. I assume.) for nearly three months, but I haven't let that stop me -- I'm playing through the pain.

Because I can

As I mentioned above, I've changed this newsletter over to MailChimp. So I needed to christen it properly. Hence a picture of Bailey. Brushing her teeth. Sort of.

Look! another affiliate link.
