Greetings
I tell ya, it's been a windy, cold, rainy, and even snowy, spring. We finally got some snowfall around here a few days ago. Big flakes all over the place. And it even stuck. For awhile. Until the wind picked up and the rain started. Then the power went out.
Still, Bailey got to get her paws in some snow, even if it was only about half an inch.

And while spring is beginning to bloom here in northwest Washington, I'll be heading into the warmth of Arizona and Utah for a pair of workshops with my friend Don Mammoser.
Oh, and my Seattle Mariners won their season opener. So they're in first place. I'm sure that won't change.

Photograph the Oregon Coast and learn Lightroom

So you say you need to learn to use Lightroom? And you want to photograph the Oregon Coast too? Well I've got just the answer for that. I'm co-leading a workshop in Bandon, OR (home of some of the most photogenic sea stacks IN THE WORLD) with Matt Kloskowski, the famed Lightroom expert.
This workshop, through Great American Photography Workshops, is May 26-30. Besides the sea stacks of Bandon beach and the great sunsets to be had there, we'll also be photographing a working harbor, the formal gardens of Shore Acres State Park, hopefully some big crashing waves at the same park, a couple of lighthouses, and more. I'll be there to help you get the best in-camera images you can and with Matt you'll be able to learn some great stuff about Lightroom, including image optimization and workflow.

This workshop's really got it all: one of the best locations on the Oregon Coast, professional help in the field, and top notch instruction in digital imaging techniques.

Yosemite in May

There's still time to get in on my Yosemite National Park workshop with Photographers Alliance Workshops (May 19-23). And there's still time to use the $100 off coupon too. Just type in PAWEMAIL in the coupon field when registering.
Photograph the waterfalls of Oregon

I also still have a couple of openings in my Oregon Waterfalls semi-private trip. If you like waterfalls, or Oregon, or Oregon and waterfalls, this is your chance. Date is June 1-5 and the cost is $550.
These trips are limited to seven paying participants and are a great opportunity to visit a photogenic location with a small group and get all the help you need with your photography.
Visit my Semi-Private Tours page for details.
Intro to Nature Photography class

For those of you in my local area, that is, the Kitsap peninsula or the eastern Olympic peninsula, there are still four seats remaining in my Olympic College Art of Nature Photography class. At the pace of sign ups, I'm expecting this will sell out. For more information and links to the OC, click the link below.
Bailey and her new ball

And for all of you just waiting and waiting for a Bailey update, here it is. She got a new ball. It has a really good squeaker and impressive bounce characteristics. Plus, its blue color compliments her hair color. See, there's a lesson in combining colors in a photograph. And you thought all I was doing was bragging about my dog. I'm hurt. You're forgiven.
PAW website upgrade complete

The Photographers Alliance Workshop website has gone through a make over. It doesn't really look a whole lot different so I guess it's a technology upgrade or something.
Anyway, click on over and visit. You can start with reading about My Favorite Image of 2009
