Greetings
I just got back from a very nice "Animals in Winter" shoot at Triple "D" in Montana. The snow was great, the animals were great, the weather was great.
Even some of my pictures turned out pretty good.
Tigers and Puppies and Cubs !!

I want to pass on to everybody what Jay at Triple D told me. It looks like this is going to be a banner year for the cute and cuddlies. He expects to have a bunch of babies for the spring and summer shoots. And remember---cute sells! His new Grizzly bear cub was born a couple of weeks ago and he also expects to have cougar, bobcat, lynx (Canada and Siberian), porcupine, raccoon, various foxes, wolves, skunks, badger (yes, badger), and (keep your fingers crossed) snow leopards.

So if you're interested in baby critters, give Jay a call -- 406-755-9653. I know he still has openings for his Utah Special sessions, one of which I'll be co-leading, as well as the spring and summer sessions in Kalispell.
Speaking of Kalispell, I’ll be leading another workshop for Triple “D” June 15-18. Last I heard there was only one spots left. This will be a prime chance to get some great baby animal shots. Click here for details.

Latest news on my latest book

My new book, The Photographer’s Guide to Puget Sound and Northwest Washington is off to the printer. Because of space constraints, I ended up needing to make some cuts. Because of that, I'm developing a website where I’ll be posting the sites that were cut. There you’ll be able to access the deleted sites as well as view maps to the locations.
Other workshop news

I'm leading a few workshops for The Nature Workshops this year. The Palouse workshop has sold out but there are still three spaces left in the Olympic National Park workshop. The Oregon Coast workshop is wide open. For information, or to sign up, visit The Nature Workshops website

Also, if you've ever wanted to photograph the Canadian Rockies, Don Mammoser and I are leading a trip there this fall. This workshop sold out last year and we expect to have a full trip this year as well. Visit the Canadian Rockies page of my website for details.

Oregon Waterfalls/Coast workshop price reduction

Don Mammoser and I have reduced the price for our Oregon Waterfalls/Oregon Coast workshop, May 6-11. We'll be spending part of our time in the Columbia Gorge photographing the numerous waterfalls (along with a sunrise and sunset or two, and the plentiful spring wildflowers), and the other part on the northern Oregon coast. There we'll spend time at Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park, and some other areas.

Take a look at our Oregon Waterfalls/Oregon Coast webpage for more.

Vermont in Fall

Wow. This is turning into nothing but a workshop promo email.
Anyway, we've finalized the details for this year's Vermont Fall Color workshop with David Middleton, myself, and Maida Candler. Last year this workshop sold out and we had folks on a waiting list.

This is the workshop we do every year in David's back yard (seriously--we spend an afternoon at David's 200 acre home). Last year we were treated to unparalleled access to a working dairy farm where David is working on one of his book projects. We're talking quintessential Vermont here. Fall color, rolling hills, posing cows. Hard to beat.
For more information, visit the Vermont in Fall page at CameraAction Workshops.

Until Next time

Well that's it for now. Between now and next month's newsletter I'm going to be trying out a Photoshop script that creates a camera calibration profile for the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in. This is designed for Photoshop CS2 and the current Camera Raw so I don't know if it will work with the upcoming CS3.
I'll let you know how it goes.
